| Lot description: SOPHENE. Artagigarta. Oktachalkon (Bronze, 24 mm, 9.69 g, 11 h), CY 11 = 54/3 BC. Draped and turreted bust of the city-goddess to right. Rev. Wreath with ties inwards; to left, AI; to right, monogram of ΠO. Kovacs 211 corr. (reverse image upside down). Rare and undoubtedly the finest known example. In exceptional condition for an Armenian civic issue, well struck on a broad flan and with a beautiful green patina. Light adjustment marks as made and some minor areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine. From an important collection of Armenian coins. Estimate: 750 CHF |  |
